Introduction

This is the story of my trip to Georgia in the Caucasus in May and June of 2024.Actually, this has been my second trip to the region, the first one having been in 2016, by bike, where I cycled all the way from eastern Hungary (Debrecen), through Romania, Moldavia, Odessa in Ukraine - from where I landed in the city of Batumi - and then I crossed both Georgia and Armenia. I wrote a blog about this trip, it is here if you want to read it. I will be referring to this trip as I am writing the story.

This time, I was not on a bike trip (well, just a tiny bit...), but more of a hiking/sightseeing trip through the region. Back in May 2024, I talked to a buddy of mine, Florian, we penciled in a trip to Bosnia. Florian had in the meantime, planned a trip to Georgia, scheduled to be a couple of weeks long. We tossed the idea around of me joining him right from the beginning, but as I still had some things to take care of in Vienna, Florian left for Georgia in mid-May and I joined him a week or so later.

In the below, I will tell you the story of this trip to this really beautiful country.
